The next TEAM talk from EADT eV will once again focus on the diverse topic of “Micro-Layering”. In our last meeting it became clear that one hour is not enough to grasp this complex topic. Many questions remain unanswered, so we will now once again focus on micro-layering.
Once again, we will focus on three key questions, which we will examine from the diverse perspectives of the EADT eV – from dentistry and dental technology to materials science and the dental industry. Our discussion will be rich in expertise and multifaceted perspectives. We will address aspects that we only briefly touched upon in the last TEAM Talk . Together with you, we want to continue what we started and try to discuss the many open questions. Among other things, we will discuss the role of zirconia as a framework material and color-bearing base, highlight the importance of nesting in restorations, and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of techniques such as coating, layering, and the no-bake technique. We will also consider the limitations and boundaries of these techniques.

Monolithic anterior and posterior tooth restorations are popular as an all-ceramic restoration concept. Micro-layering is becoming increasingly popular as a form of prosthetic care. But what should you consider from the perspective of the dental practice and what should you consider from the perspective of the dental laboratory? The EADT focuses on three central questions surrounding the topic:

1. How do I achieve my predictable color result (VITA color scale) with micro-layering?
- Which procedural steps are crucial?
- What role does “nesting” play?
2. Coating versus “layering” in the anterior and posterior areas
- Which application for which prosthetic case?
3. What are the limits?
These key questions provide an excellent basis for an in-depth and multifaceted discussion. We look forward to exploring these aspects together with the participants and sharing our knowledge and experiences.
