The Dental Technology Working Group e. V. celebrates 40 years of promoting collaboration between dentists and dental technicians and dialogue between science and application in dental technology.
Traditionally on the Corpus Christi weekend from June 20th to 22.06.2019nd, 48, the 40th annual meeting of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Dentale Technologie e. V. (ADT). In addition to some anniversary highlights on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the ADT, implant prosthetics as well as function and aesthetics form the focus of the almost 50 lectures and five workshops. In the industrial exhibition accompanying the conference, around XNUMX exhibitors will show their latest developments in dental technology and their use in practices and laboratories.
Reason to celebrate: 40 years of ADT
Forty years ago – Karl Carstens was elected Federal President, Reinhold Messner climbed K-2, and Police had their hit "Message in Bottle" – the official starting signal for the ADT was given: its registration in the register of associations, and thus the legal founding of the Working Group for Dental Technology (ADT). This anniversary is reflected in many of this year's program items. ADT President Prof. Dr. Daniel Edelhoff and Vice President ZTM Wolfgang Weisser promise to "surprise" the conference participants with some anniversary highlights.
It should come as no surprise that this year's lecture program is filled with current topics from dentistry and dental technology. After all, in the IDS year 2019 it is important to classify some new products and evaluate what advantages they actually bring to the user in practice and laboratory. Some program highlights are briefly presented below.
Small insights into a big program
Dr. Karl-Ludwig Ackermann
The dental worst-case scenario of toothlessness is Dr. Karl-Ludwig Ackermann and ZTM Gerhard Neuendorff have been on the trail for 40 years. The team of speakers examines the question of which conditions must be met in order for stuck, i.e. H. implant-supported rehabilitation of the edentulous upper jaw will become a routine dental technology solution, and how these solutions prove themselves under clinical conditions.
ZTM Günter Rübeling
Anyone who is interested in the development of dental technology over the past 40 years should be excited about ZTM Günter Rübeling, the “father” of spark erosion and who was honored with the ADT Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. He gives a chronological overview of the main topics from 40 years of ADT, which he played a key role in shaping.
ZTM Jürg Stuck
ZTM Jürg Stuck has been a fixture in the dental cosmos since the mid-1970s, especially since the early 2000s when it comes to dental analysis and diagnostics in preparation for treatment planning. He shows why “primary dental technology” – this is what he calls the mandatory preliminary analytical and diagnostic stage by the dental technician before the actual production of dentures begins – is essential for the success of comprehensive rehabilitation.
Prof. Martin Rosentritt
Prof. Dr. Dipl.-Ing. (FH) Martin Rosentritt is an expert in dental materials and their material characterization at the University of Regensburg. He asks to what extent, especially in the implant area, the clinical situation and the dental technology background as well as the understanding of function and occlusion are important for long-term clinical success when using tooth-colored materials.
ZTM Stefan Schunke
ZTM Stefan Schunke, a specialist in aesthetic dental technology from the DGÄZ, shows how to adapt the functional and aesthetic strategies to the respective case, especially in large rehabilitations, and to rearrange the aesthetic-functional space.
Promoting young talent at FORUM 25
Parallel to the lecture program on the second day of the event, the FORUM offers 25 young dental and dental technology talents a stage to express their passion for the profession. In 15-minute short lectures, they present what makes them passionate about their profession. An expert jury will reward the best presentation with the “ADT Young Talent Award”. In dialogue with the manufacturers
The time between the lectures invites you to visit the industrial exhibition, where around 50 companies from the dental industry present their trade fair innovations. So if you weren't able to attend the IDS or have lost track of the variety in Cologne, you can have the new releases presented to you in Nürtingen in peace and quiet.
And anyone who is interested in the topic of 3D printing and its advantages and disadvantages when used in dentistry will find the right contacts in the now established 3D printing forum in the Panorama Hall of the K3N Hall.
Whoever is happy is lucky? Lecture
Anyone who does not believe that “those who are happy are lucky” should definitely not listen to the keynote speech by PD Dr. med. habil. Volker Busch on the “Psychology of a Successful Life”. Busch is a specialist in neurology as well as psychiatry and psychotherapy and heads the scientific working group “Psychosocial Stress and Pain” at the Regensburg University Hospital. His specialty as a speaker is the humorous and exciting transfer of neuroscientific and psychological findings in everyday professional and private life. Mind and brain are the focus of its content: scientifically based, with a high level of relevance to everyday life and practice and implemented in an understandable way.
ADT Lifetime Achievement Award for Jan Langner
After Willi Geller in 2017, this year the ADT Honor Commission is honoring ZTM Jan Langner for his life's work. Honorary member Langner was vice president of the working group for over 19 years from 1987 to 2006 and has been closely associated with it for many years. It's not just his excellent technology, which he has described in countless articles, that has made him famous. Jan Langner has also made a name for himself as an inventor: He has taken up many of the needs of his colleagues and fulfilled them with products such as the line finder, the stump caddy or the JetPin - all by-products of his work as a dedicated dental technician.

Exchange ideas, maintain contacts
There is plenty of opportunity to maintain old contacts and make new ones in a pleasant atmosphere and with good food: at the get-together party on Thursday evening in the industrial exhibition and at the traditional ADT party on Friday evening, which, weather permitting, takes place in the Beer garden of the Nürtinger Schlachthofbräu rises.
The regular general meeting of the working group takes place on Friday evening. According to the statutes, the members elect their board of directors and the advisory board this year for the next three years.
